William Cox received his B.S. from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York in 1999, and his D.O. from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. He was an internal medicine resident at New York Hospital-Queens from 2004 - 2007.

In 2007, he became a hospitalist at LGHM and an IM assistant professor at VCOM. Dr. Cox became the IM assistant program director in 2009 and the program director in 2013. Currently he is serving as the medical director for Commonwealth Hospitalists Group.  Dr. Cox is board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.  He is also a member of the American College of Physicians,  American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American Osteopathic Association.
