GME incorporates the knowledge base and skills necessary to provide primary care--from adolescence to geriatrics--with the social and academic skills needed to be effective physicians.
In addition, the unique concepts and skills of osteopathic medicine are emphasized throughout the training years. The GME manual clearly defines what trainers will expect from the resident, and what residents, in turn, can expect from the program. This information serves as a template for resident evaluation and certification by ACGME.
